Innovation for exploration

About Lynx Information Systems

Lynx Information Systems provides geophysical and GIS services to the petroleum exploration industry worldwide. Operating since 1989, we offer a full range of services, software solutions and GIS data for data handling and data management in upstream environments.

We operate from London and Houston, and provide seismic and well log vectorizing – converting paper seismic sections, shotpoint basemaps and well log plots into useable digital data (SEG-Y, SEG-P1/UKOOA and LAS), both as a service, and as licenced software.

We also provide a wide range of GIS consultancy and services, from designing and populating corporate spatial databases and web portals to digitising geological and structure maps

Our GIS Exploration Advisers provide a wide range of geological, geophysical, petrophysical and cultural data and interpretations for petroleum provinces across the globe.

Lynx also manages the UK Onshore Geophysical Library (UKOGL) on behalf of the UK Government Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), providing the official archive and release mechanism for all UK public domain onshore seismic data since its inception in 1994

Lynx software Packages

Lynx develops a range of software solutions for reconstructing seismic and well data, and building, maintaining and visualising spatial databases of exploration data. We also provide tools and extensions for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop focussed on improving workflows and enhancing the visualization of G&G data.

Lynx Exploration Archivist Seismic Scanning and Vectorising (LEASSV) software is a comprehensive software solution for re-vectorising scanned images of seismic sections and outputting the results as industry-standard SEG-Y format trace files. Using the utilities provided in the suite, output files can be made ready for loading to seismic interpretation workstation or further processing.

The Lynx Exploration Archivist Map Scanning and Vectorising (LEAMAP) software is a comprehensive software solution for converting hard-copy seismic line location (shotpoint) maps into digital data, and importing and editing existing location data from a variety of formats. Using the utilities provided in the suite, output files can be made ready for loading to seismic interpretation workstation or further processing.

The EZLOG system provides a fast and efficient method of accurately converting paper log data to digital API format which can then be used for further processing. The Windows-based software supports mass storage devices for archiving and offers outputs to paper, film or machine readable media with formats such as LIS, ASCII, LOGM and TERRALOG. It incorporates full auto-tracking of single or multiple log curves in monochrome, 8-bit colour or true colour.

Lynx Exploration Archivist Cataloguing and Archiving (LEACAT) software is a comprehensive solution for preparing, cataloguing and archiving your existing E&P project data. Our software does not force you to adopt a rigid over-arching database schema, but provides the flexibility to adapt to the way your company already organises data, whether this is departmentally or geographically.

iLogview is a wireline log viewer app for web browsers. Digital composite logs can be viewed interactively in a multi-track display, with formation tops and core photos. Individual curves can be turned on and off, and the vertical scale can be changed intuitively by users and switched between metres and feet. iLogview can provide secure real-time access to digital log data to distributed users.
